Concrete Practices |
 |
|
| Following these procedures will
greatly enhance the look and strength of your concrete and will help it to
last for years to come. |
|
- Float concrete
as soon as it has been struck off.
- Wait for the concrete
to stop "bleeding". (Any finishing done while concrete
is still "bleeding" will result
in later problems with the concrete.)
- Edge the concrete
all the way around.
- Joint
the concrete by grooving it.
- Trowel the concrete. (Repeated
passes with a steel trowel will produce a smooth surface. Sidewalks,
patios, etc.. may not require troweling.)
- If desired, texture
the concrete with a push broom for a non-slip surface.
- Cure
the concrete as soon as possible after finishing.
- Never sprinkle water
or dry cement on concrete while finishing it. This could cause
blemishes in the appearance of the concrete.
